Packvertising: how Packaging Helps with Advertising

One thing that you’ll start to see is packvertising, where the packaging is basically an advertising and promo campaign. There are many different companies already using this. For those businesses looking to have promotional campaigns that span multiple channels, this is a good way to do this.

One good example of this is Audi’s advertising campaign. The goal of this was to aim the advertising at the AWD system that’s called the Quattro, and it’s one that shows how powerful it is for driving in all sorts of weather, including inclement weather.

The packaging was actually done with a type of package that fit it well, and had a nice stenciling to it. They also made a spray that’s water-repellent, so that you could put the words onto any sort of surface, and it was pretty cool.

They sent this packaging out to different dealers across the world, so they could make a guerrilla campaign that worked. Whenever there was rain in the forecast, they would use this packaging, and get people interested. They made it a red color, and also had the logo in white, which was really good to stand out in its own unique manner.

Now let’s talk about another one.  Jewelry with concrete.  You read that right. One type of jewelry that’s started to form is called Concrete Jungle which was a popular song that Bob Marley composed, created a box that’s briefcase style with a look that’s patinated, along with elegant, creating a design that’s engaging and intense too. This is one that’s premium, and also offers a sleek green pain that’s ecological, and also has some gold embellishments there.

This is one that’s good for unboxing, and it came with different types of accessories too. This packaging was so popular that it even got rewarded for being eco friendly, innovative, and also really good for positioning the brand.

Another one is the candy industry. You probably see this a whole lot whenever you look at foodstuffs, but some have really set the bar quite high.

Dirty cows are one of them. This is a vegan chocolate vendor that has created a vegetable chocolate that’s purely made from vegetables. They do criticize even just exploitation of the cattle, and you see it with the sign that’s on there, and the letter o that’s there. This design is one that uses a white background with a satin finish in a black color, which is supposed to represent a cow.

The final touch is the chocolate berries that are peeled there, showcasing that this is an authentic and really tasty item.

There are other types of chocolate that have started to use this. with the different packaging that’s out there, many brands have to stand out.  Some brands have started to push for showcasing the aroma of coffee as well in lots of cases.

One type of company utilizes a powder blue coloring to this. They use a white typeface that’s got an italics on this, and is presented as alluring, fun, but also quite rigorous.  There are also different nutritional values and ingredients that are there, which are great for those looking to watch their health as well.  Having stunning photos of coffee beans and the different curls also created a particularly powerful image to this.

There are a lot of great ways for packaging to really shine and grow in tons of cases. A lot of times, people are not realizing just what kind of impact that they have, and what you can do with this too, to change the packaging.

The rise of Edible Packaging

There are so many different ways to package everything. One fun way that’s recently taken the world by storm is edible packaging

Here, we’ll tell you all about edible packaging, the different kinds available, and what you can do to get started on the edible packaging adventure you want to be on.

What edible Packaging Is

This is a form of sustainable packaging that your food has, and it’s designed to be biodegradable either through eating, or tossed away. all of the materials are natural and plant-based, such as acrasin or seaweed, or a sheet of some film that coats over this. it can be eaten along with the food item itself.

With the packaging being eaten rather than tossed. This type of method of packaging is great for reduction of the dependency you have on your plastics, all while naturally producing far less waste when everything gets eaten.

An alternative comes at the time that the industry has recently been exposed for the amount of waste they create. A lot of traditional food types of packaging all come from not biodegradable materials, and with statistics showing that plastic and food accounted for around 30% of your solid waste back in 2018, it’s something that definitely needs to be considered.

There are now more packaging options than ever before, so those who were exposed for wasting too much money on their packaging can now make the change to promise better sustainability.

Options for edible Packaging

While consumable packaging is much newer, there are some you’ve probably seen before, and far more variants. With ice cream and waffle cones, you’re getting edible packaging. There are now more innovations within the horizon, in order to make these options easy.

Some are even done in cookie coffee cups, giving you a sweet treat after you drink it, gelatin packaging, fruit casing, and a candy wrapper that’s made from rice paper or potato finders.

One of the most popular ones is straws.   There’s new innovations to reduce the need for regular old straws.   There are some pasta ones made from water and wheat, and even apple ones that are made from an apple fiber.

They are great as a way to add something sweet to the beverage, and pasta straws are great for drinking.

Food film Options

Some have found some totally biodegradable types of food film, such as those made from starch, konjac flour, and also cellulose and proteins. They’re innovative, offering a better storage, safety and better shelf life, all while being as eco friendly as can be.

Eco bags

This is another one, where you can get a consumable type of bag that dissolves in water.   However, this bag is less for human consumption, but instead for animals. Made from cassava, the Avani bag provides nourishment to the insects and fish. This is definitely a step in the right direction especially with plastics poisoning our water.

Spoons

There are also bakeries with consumable cutlery options that are now becoming more and more popular.

Made to be vegan, without preservatives and fat, it’s made from eco-friendly types of eating, while also creating healthy food options. There are over 40 billion plastic types of cutlery that’s out there in the US alone that gets disposed. It’s something that the food industry needs to think about, and luckily with these edible spoons, they can do just that.

There are tons of different edible packaging, with the goal to reduce waste, and they’re tasting even better than you have ever expected these items to taste before using them too.

Packaging to Ship Internationally—How to Overcome Distribution Barriers

A lot of packaging is going to new places. Not just locally or around the country, but now around the globe.

However, with that comes new challenges. Shipping to the IK for example, means you need to deal with the plastic ban or taxes that come with this, which can eat into profits.   Making sure that you meet the challenges of these international logistics is important, especially when focused on tariffs and regulations that are also a big part of this.

Here, we’ll go over what you should focus on, and the challenges that come with packaging for these international brands.

The biggest considerations

The biggest consideration is the language translation. Last thing you want is for something to have the wrong meaning on the packaging. It looks unprofessional, and customers won’t buy.

Customs requirements are another. Some countries struggle with this, so it can in turn, impact your packaging.

Climate adaptations are another. If you’re shipping from a mild climate to a warm climate that’s humid, you need to factor in this as well.

Finally, there is packaging durability, which comes with the environments that are in there.   you’d be surprised at how sometimes, when you ship across the globe, it can impact how durable the items are. Consider the diverse environments when packaging for international shipping compliance.

Applications of This Compliance

Pretty much anything that is shipped out to other countries will face this challenge.

Some industries more than others will be impacted, however. Electronics is one of the biggest ones, because a lot of electronics need to follow certain rules when shipped to other countries as well as have good protection.

Consumer goods are another, for similar reasons, but you will also want to make sure that the translation is properly adapted too.

Finally, you also want to focus on industrial products. These products need some adjustments and other different factors to consider, which also will be impacted by the diverse environments.

Challenges with International Packaging

There are a few challenges that come with international packaging.

The first is compliance with these standards. Meeting and beating these standards can be a big challenge, especially for new businesses. When you meet these standards, it can in turn impact the overall experience of the products.

Being able to comply with these standards and reduce the material waste across the borders is also important as well, since it can, in turn, make it so that your packaging is properly aligned.

The future of This Packaging

As standards change, many companies are going to have to follow these standards. New innovations will be universal packaging solutions, which means that the items are all packed in a way that will benefit everyone that’s around the globe.   It can be good for a lot of different reasons, and offering universal solutions is sometimes the answer you’re looking for.

Another one is smart labeling. Having labeling that’s intelligent, and fits the different factors that are in there is important. Being able to build the labeling in a manner that works, and also to help with ensuring that the compliance is possible is great for many people.

Finally, you’ve got built-in custom features.   Having this built-in customs for your packaging offers seamless globalized shipping across the borders.

Having good shipping that will fit your needs is imperative, so making sure that your packaging not only fits this branding and needs, but also overcomes these barriers, is imperative for everyone involved, and will in turn also ensure that your packaging is able to meet the compliance standards.

The Ethics of Overpackaging

Overpackaging is a big problem that companies run into. While it is not always common, it can stand to be a problem for some companies.

The line between safe and wasteful is something that companies will teeter, but it is best not to cross over. If you’re boxing something too much, such as adding ten different boxes to something, or even adding some excessive filler that will make the box get too big.

Another big thing is double layering. Yes it’s good to layer such items, but when you add too much, it starts to become almost wasteful, and consumers are speaking out against it.

Yes, consumers are Getting upset

Consumers are getting upset with this, and for a good reason. so many of them are sharing viral videos of their packages all being stuffed, and hating how large it’s getting. See this as a warning for your own packaging rather than a direct callout, sure, but also, realizing that you’re doing this is a huge part of things, and it can play a big role in the overall scope of your packaging capabilities.

How to Fix This?

While you want to have good packaging that protects the item, you don’t want to be too wasteful. What’s the solution for this sort of packaging faux pas?

The answer is eco-conscious alternatives to overpacking.   This, of course, means smart packaging. Using smart technology and leveraging it to help with packing your items better is a good place to start. They will offer suggestions on the best ways to package your items, and in turn, build a better packaging experience as a result.

Another one is using right-sizing. This is of course, when you have packaging that’s the right size, and you begin to ensure that it’s fitting for the item. Whether leveraged by AI or testing, using this will help fix your improperly fitting items.

Layered compartments are one of them. Adding compartments with different layers is a big part of it.   Being able to add different ways for your packaging to stand out and shine will, from that point forward, really make it stand out.

Your goal, when putting together such packaging, is to offer these unique ways to prevent overpackaging. Do it today, and see for yourself just what types of packaging you will be able to use, and how to make it really stand out.

How Brands are Responding

If you’re not convinced, taking a look at the corporate branding and the way they’re responding is another big part of it. Brands are fighting back against accusations of not taking care of their packaging and upsetting customers.

Some of the ways include public apologies for the improper structure of the packaging, and then from there, taking responsibility. Some of them as well, have opened the floor for customers to offer feedback for such objects, in turn building a better, more remunerative design that will in turn, stand out as well. Being able to build your packaging in such a manner plays a critical role in the future of such packaging endeavors, so by doing this, you’ll definitely take responsibility to make your packaging better.

Don’t end up being a viral video on improper packaging. Start to take matters into your own hands today, and work on trying to reduce the packaging that you have. You owe it to yourself to ensure that your packaging meets the company expectations, and prevents overpackaging in its own way. In doing so, your packaging will stand out, get better, and really shine in its own unique ways as well.
