Here are a few different packaging recycling initiatives for a brand to try out, and other ones that’ll encourage packaging and recycling in your own life.
Nespresso
This is a coffee pod packaging company that offers diffusion, especially because it’s easy to use. But, due to the functionalities and detriment, the pods are a major environmental hazard, as they do create a large amount of waste that’s hard to manage from the comfort of your own home. Because of this, the company has looked to improve the recycling that’s done.
Nespresso started a recycling campaign back in 2016, and through this, consumers got a bag that was green whenever they purchased this. the bags got filled up with the pods that were used, rather than tossed away. Then, it was divided from the different recycling that was done, and they get treated separately. The coffee grounds wasted got extracted, used into compost, and the capsules that contained the coffee got recycled.
Then, they spread this in 2018 onwards, and the company did team up directly with Canada Post to create some recycling of capsules. They distributed these red bags that, when they filled them up, got sent to the recycling facility through their mail, without any further costs to it.
Re Pack
This is another packaging company. Re Pack is a rental company that utilizes some delivery packaging.

The service has a very simple premise. The company gives the person a possibility for them to rent the packages to different retailers and ecommerce distributors. They then used re Pack in order to deliver this. any consumers that bought from them will choose a packaging solution, either Re Pack, or some shipping boxes.
They did pay a little bit extra, getting their products packed into different packaging that’s reusable. Then, the package that the item came in got sent back through the mail without any stamps. Then, once they sent it back, the customers got a coupon for ten euros from the store where they got the products. So they’re getting money through this essentially. Now, everything that goes through there does need to be cleaned, checked, and then distributed once more, but this can be used up to about twenty times. This is a great packaging initiative, and they value not having trash infest their life, that’s for sure!
Teracycle along with L’Occitane En Provence
This is a company that’s relatively new, but together, these two companies improve their recycling packaging, especially for consumers.
The customers just had to drop off their packages at L’Occitane stores, getting a 10% coupon as a discount. This is an incentive used to exchange this for the services rendered, and they created some packaging that’s sorted, separated, and from there cleaned, shredded out, and then, are made directly into newer products recycled.
LUSH

Finally, we’ve got lush, which has always been a champion of the environment. A lot of the products are sold literally naked, without the added packaging. When that’s not possible for shipping, they’re put into recycled containers. Now, in order to boost recycling, they actually had a promotion. When you returned five black pots of items, the customers got a face mask for free.
This is something that a lot of people like, and when you return the photos, they’re used again.
Recycled packaging has its own benefits, and there are a lot of great ways to get used to the different packaging that’s there, taking advantage of all that you can do with this, and to provide a recycling means for others today.
